About Jason Walsh
I have been a full-time journalist since 2004 and in that time have contributed to over 50 newspapers, magazines and web sites. My areas of interest and expertise are news reporting, feature writing, politics and society, art and culture and technology. I’m Ireland correspondent of the CS Monitor newspaper in Boston and have covered the conflict in Ireland, ‘terrorism’, the clerical sex abuse scandal, the Irish economic collapse, online rights and privacy and other subjects, and a correspondent of the Vox Pop investigative news programme on Arte television in France and Germany.
I also wrote frequently for the sadly now defunct PressEurop, where I was a regular columnist and commissioning editor for the Europhenia blog, and have contributed to the New Republic, the Independent, i, the Guardian, the Sunday Times, the Irish Times, the Irish Examiner, the Sunday Business Post, USA Today, the Washington Times, El Mundo (Spain), Forbes (Croatia) and other newspapers and magazines.
I founded and edited the Irish online current affairs magazine forth daily. Published daily for eight months and featuring the work of over 50 writers, it’s currently on hiatus but may come back.
My work has been syndicated in at least seven countries, including by the Alaska Dispatch, Minn Post, Yahoo News, PressEurop, the Oregon Herald, and translated into many languages including Japanese, French, Spanish, Polish, Dutch, Italian, German, Czech, Romanian, Portugese, Croatian and Bosnian.
I studied art and design, fine art, journalism and society and art theory and have attended the University of Ulster, the University of East London and the National College of Art and Design, part of the National University of Ireland, and am currently reading for a PhD in philosophy at University College Dublin.
