"It is still an insult to women’s dignity to have to declare themselves mentally ill."

Sir, a woman would need to be mentally incapacitated to desire to kill her offspring.

Just read you article in Spiked & I can't see what your problem with Desmond is. This is exactly how press freedom should work. The paper's free to publish what it likes but also to take the consequences of doing so. In this case they've pissed off one of their financial backers. Should have thought of that possibility then, shouldn't they? Be the same if they pissed off their readers.
A press that's able to print what it likes but is protected from the consequences isn't going to remain free for very long before the law is invoked to curb it. Better it takes its chances in the marketplace.

This is a welcome tone in commentary on the importance of Mr. Hughes' contributions to both the art world and our sense of meaning in many things. Jason has the personal connection with Hughes' work that makes this view all the more meaningful. Thanks for the way it is written.

According to "Spook Country," in which the character also appears, his name is actually pronounced "Bay-und."
However, another character (Reg Inchmale, another weird name and apparently pronounced as it looks) notes that so many people get Bigend's name wrong, even he usually pronounced it Big-end, to save trouble.
